Edgar Allan Poe Lines On Ale

Beer Poetry – “Lines On Ale” ~ Edgar Allan Poe

Edgar Allan Poe, or Eddie, as he may have been called by friends, may be best known for his poem, “The Raven”. But he was, it appears, a man who loved his ale. Some skeptics dispute that he actually wrote “Lines on Ale”, but does it really matter to us? Ale by any other name would be as good. 🙂

Poe Cream & Amber Ale (Don’t try to find this Ale anywhere – image created for fun!)

Fill with mingled cream and amber,
I will drain that glass again.
Such hilarious visions clamber
Through the chamber of my brain –
Quaintest thoughts–queerist fancies
Come to life and fade away;
What care I how time advances?
I am drinking ale today.
